The National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS) has been released

The new National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS) has been published today which sets out the strategic priorities for public procurement and how contracting authorities can support their delivery.

The statement will come into effect on 24th February 2025 alongside the introduction of the new Procurement Act 2023 marking a pivotal shift in how public sector contracts are awarded and managed.

The (NPPS) reinforces a crucial message; that public procurement isn’t just about value for money, it’s about delivering social and economic value to our communities. At LHC Procurement Group, this aligns perfectly with our mission of “Improving lives and places through quality procurement solutions.”

The NPPS highlights key priorities, including:

  • Driving economic growth by supporting SMEs and social enterprises
  • Delivering social value through job creation, skills development, and sustainability
  • Building strong communities by removing barriers to opportunity

We go beyond compliance. Our Social Value Strategy ensures that every procurement framework we develop:

  • Embeds social impact into contracts
  • Supports suppliers in delivering community benefits
  • Increases funding for local initiatives
  • Fosters a sustainable and inclusive procurement ecosystem

Michael McLaughlin, LHCPG Group Social Value Manager commented, "The Procurement Act 2023 and NPPS provide an opportunity for all contracting authorities to think beyond price and prioritise people and places. LHCPG is committed to helping the public sector navigate these changes, ensuring procurement delivers real impact where it matters most."
