Local Regional Upskilling

Benchmarx and SWPA feel passionately about the upskilling of local people in their regional areas. Construction, surveying, and maintenance are exciting and fulfilling career paths, and SWPA and Benchmarx endeavour to close the skills gap in their local areas, by upskilling and employing people who are keen to make a difference. Benchmarx particularly contributes to local support, through a local team of surveyors.

A Day in the Life of Martin Evans: Local Support through a Local Team of Surveyors

My name is Martin Evans and I live in Cardiff. I am a Contract Kitchen Surveyor for Benchmarx Kitchens & Joinery Contract Sales team.

A normal day for me is travelling to sites across the Southwest to meet tenant liaison officers and site supervisors. We visit multiple properties and tenants per day to survey and design kitchens that are both in line with health and safety specifications and to accommodate the residents’ requirements in their kitchens.

I love my job because I get to meet new residents daily and hear about their interests and accomplishments. I really enjoy meeting the surveyors and liaison officers, building great relationships with them and it also helps me adapt my designs to suit them and their fitters’ preferences. I get to travel to the southwest of the country on a daily basis which has some beautiful views and villages.
